Mosaid shows HLNAND SSD drive

At the Flash Memory Summit 2010 today, an innovative new was shown. Presented in such R & D Vice President Jin-Ki Kim, a new technology, which is favorable from a resilient, high-performance NAND flash memory SSD. This innovation goes by the name HyperLink NAND, NAND flash as it forms two modules to a SSD.

Presented was the 64GB SSD with two HLDIMM modules. The modules are interchangeable and can be extended arbitrarily. However, only the capacity of a module is available for storing data, similar to a RAID Association. The built-Indilinx controller shapes the two favorable NAND flash memory, as they are, for example MP3 players are used together in a single drive, and achieved through intelligent allocation of read and write commands high transfer rates. According Mosaid in the first tests with a reading rate of 213 MB / s and a write rate of 130 MB / s were achieved. These are very good value when you consider that these speeds were achieved on a single controller. In practice, the interconnection of up to 8 controllers, which, in spite of the cheap and easy to producing NAND memory in read speeds of 1.7 GB / s results.

The HLNAND SSD is connected via SATA 2 and fits into a 3.5-inch hard drive enclosure.
The HLNAND technology is now available for licensing, as the ultimate consumer technology should not come, however HLNAND provisionally used.
